About the CEU:
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. It has been a treatment practice since the 1980s, but isn’t well known in the Austin area. It was initially developed to address the self-blame present in sexual assault survivors and was delivered in a group format. It has since been shown to be effective with other types of trauma and also in individual treatment.

CEU Objectives:
The participant will be able to:
1. Articulate who is a good candidate for CPT
2. Understand how CPT reduces PTSD symptoms by targeting maladaptive beliefs
3. Understand overall treatment goals for CPT

About the presenter:
Jessica is a native Texan who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas State University-San Marcos. She has been in the mental health field since 2007 and has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her primary experience is with mood and anxiety disorders. She also has experience with substance abuse, veterans, and older adults. Her two areas of specialty are PTSD and maladaptive overcontrol. She ran IOP groups at Seton for 10 years, including Restore IOP for PTSD and RO DBT IOP. She opened a private practice in July, 2021.
