About the CEU: Our clients, and we ourselves, all have times when we have difficulty taking in feedback. For many this difficulty is a habitual response that happens more often than not. Some people become defensive quickly, damaging relationships and discounting helpful or even crucial feedback. Some people agree with feedback automatically even when the feedback may not be helpful or could even be harmful to them. There are two important skills to utilize surrounding receiving feedback. One is how to receive the feedback in a way that maintains important relationships and is in line with our value system. The other skill is how to evaluate the feedback and determine if it should be put into action. During this CEU you will learn these skills the same way our clients do in RODBT Skills Classes. You will leave being able to teach them to your clients and help them to implement the skills both in therapy and their daily lives. Opportunities will be available to staff client cases where you are having difficulty providing feedback to clients, or observing they are having difficulty accepting or evaluating feedback in their lives.
CEU Objectives: The participant will be able to: 1. Identify when their clients might be having difficulty taking in or evaluating feedback. 2. Teach their clients how to receive feedback. 3. Teach their clients how to determine whether feedback is helpful and effective to put into action.
